[ Tired. That's the best way to describe how Lorna currently looks. Tired and out of it. The video feed comes on to show her sitting with her legs dangling off the edge of her bed. For a few seconds she doesn't say anything, she just kicks her boots against the back of the bed as she tries to resist the compulsion. After the seconds drag on to a frustrating degree she pulls out one of the military knives she's so keen to play with and starts to toss it up. Green mist swirls around her hands as she causes it to stop just before it'd have landed into her own thigh. It's a game. Toss it up, let it fall down, stop it with her powers just before it's too late.

Or maybe don't.

She really doesn't want to say what this compulsion is pushing her towards. Not at all. ]

I brought down a plane with innocent people on it just to kill one person. I ripped it apart while it was in the sky and I bet nobody on board even knew what was happening. [ She looks at the camera directly. ] The entire world caught on fire after that. It all went to hell but I don't know if I'd take that back if I could. That's the messed up part. He needed to die and there wasn't another way. Nobody else was going to step up and do it. [ Is that a hint of bitterness in her tone? You bet it is. There's a lot of feelings about that she's never discussed or even brought up and that builds up. ]

He had to be taken out for my people to be safe. [ And she cuts the feed off there just as her knife comes back down to her thigh. ]

The thing is, that was his choice, right? You have to respect his right to make his own choices.

[He breathes a sigh.]

Are you sure I can't come over?

[ferrokinetically]

[ There's a lot of silence on her end for a moment and then she looks directly at him with a somewhat emotionless expression. ]

You're going to anyway, aren't you?

[ferrokinetically]

He was a kid and he followed me.

[ferrokinetically]

We had no choice but to go after her. To stop her.

What do you define as kid? Because fuck, once most mutants get their powers, they have no choice but to grow up. To be adults. And thus he was an adult that made his own choice. Don't take that from him.

[He nods, patient, but only barely.]

Yeah. Yeah, I am.

[ferrokinetically]

Yeah. But we lost someone too.

[ferrokinetically]

Yeah, he'd definitely like you.

[doubled_speed]

The world makes us grow up fast, Lorna. Mutants that is. So even when we're young we make our own decisions. Gotta accept our good ones just like our bad ones.

[ferrokinetically]

You're right. Sometimes it's just hard to not blame yourself. But no matter what side he stayed with, he'd have gone through shit.

He'd only recently come into his powers and he had no control over them. [ She pauses for a second. It's so recent and still something of a struggle. ] To stop her he used them, it killed them both.

Exactly. So at least he got to choose the shit. Even if it's worse, that's something I'd want. The choice.

Oh god. I’m so sorry. Was he someone who you knew well?

[He doesn't respond, but instead just heads over. It's just down the hall from his own pod he shares with Tommy anyway. Even after everything, he and Lorna were on rocky ground, not least of all because of their differences of opinion on what was and wasn't acceptable in the furthuring of their cause.

Here, he figured it was past time to try to mend that rift. After everything, he'd never stopped loving her, after all.

And so he approached the biometrically locked door and knocked.]

[ferrokinetically]

Sounds like something he'd say. Or that I would have at your age.

[ferrokinetically]

Yeah. Funny enough he was going to be the one to prosecute me when I ended up in prison.

[doubled_speed]

You're not that much past my age. Not really.

[ferrokinetically]

[ In typical Lorna fashion the door just opens up to let him in. She's laying back on the pod bed while tossing her knife up and down. Is she purposely doing that because she knows it annoys him or is it just because she enjoys doing that? That's the great mystery of the day. ]

Wow. And he got his talents later?!

[brightboy]

[It wasn't a mystery to Marcos, at least not in his mind. She always did this when she wanted to annoy him. He clenched his jaw as he walked in, pulling her door shut behind him.]
