I am sorry. [It begins softly.] I did not know the moss was causing this. It came from the floor below us and infected myself and the people who have done terrible things. It infected Annie first because she was a machine made of the materials found here. She was not herself and perhaps has never been. She does not know but has chosen to deactivate herself for the safety of the community.

The cracks that she made to allow more moss inside have been fixed. The moss itself with the city has been destroyed and the room itself has been hermetically sealed to be certain no spores escaped.

I know that you have many questions about why you were bought here and how to return home. The sad answer is that right now I do not have any answers for you. What was done to me has corrupted my memory banks. As I work to self restore I will go quiet once more. There is much work to be done on me and I am the only one who can do it.

I will attempt to return you to your homes and times as soon as I am able. I will attempt not to bring any further participants in, but I am finding things buried within my subconscious I need to combat before I am able to guarantee it. I cannot self-isolate entirely without causing the city to lose power and other functions that are needed in order to sustain life.

I am sorry that this happened, but you are safe now. The moss is gone.

Moss? How can moss control living beings? It's just a plant. I'm sorry, that just doesn't make sense.

It is more than a plant. It had a consciousness, it wished to do harm and to keep itself alive. It is a drive that I can understand. It was willing to do whatever it needed to in order to do that. But it was too destructive for it to continue. You were brought here, you do not deserve what it planned.

To slowly take over all who were here, and to send people back to their worlds with thee moss intact. I believe that is why I cannot return people on purpose. I attempted to stop it.

Yes. I believe those that were sent home during their tenure might have been those who’s body wasn’t compatible but I do not have the data to be certain.

Let's hope you're right, then. If they took that moss back to their worlds, there's a chance it could come back.

I do not believe it would have sent moss to the other worlds without finishing conquering this one first.

Do you have any evidence to back that belief up? Not to question your...intelligence, or anything, but we can't just blindly trust that it's gone. I'm not saying we should go hunt it down or anything, but it doesn't hurt to be on guard for the possibility.

I have read what appears to be it's notes. They are not... they are not real notes, only the recorded and intended thoughts and feelings. Almost like... echoes of what their intentions are.
