((You can hear the creepiness that is Simon Reese here ))
[ You're in a secure room in an insane asylum and across from you is Alex Reagan. When you look at her you see the hope of the world, salvation. To you, Alex already represents everything good in the world and she's the key. She's at the center of everything and all that is beautiful on Earth and of humanity depends on her, and you.
She's just meeting you but you already know a lot about her. You've been guiding her whether she knows it or not.
Hello Simon. My name is Alex.
Those are the first words she speaks to you, though, your first words to her were before this "he's not what you think" whispered in a recording on her phone. Alex has a kind voice and you can almost imagine light spilling out of her.
Dr. Barnes said it was okay if I asked you a few questions.
You simply shift, staring at her, through her even though you can tell she's unsettled by you already.
Okay, uhm, they told me you talk now. Sooo... do you have any friends here?
She's beating around the bush. You don't have time for it. ]
Ask me about the drawings.
[ What drawings? ]
That's what you want to ask me, so go ahead.
[ Uhm, I'm not sure.
You cut her off. ]
Do you only believe what you can see?
[ What do you mean? ]
Everything in this universe is measured. It's all plus and minus, positive and negative. He knows where everything is down to the very last atom. But... [ Your voice drops to a conspiratorial whisper. ] I can hide things from him, from his sight. I've practiced. It was hard, at first. There are mechanisms, you know, even in randomness, even in chaos.
[ Who are you talking about? Who is he? God? Is it God?
You chuckle at her naivety. ]
Not God.
[ Then who? ]
How did you get in here?
[ Uhm... sorry? ]
How did you get in here, in this room?
[ Uh, through the door. ]
Yes. And how did you get into this building?
[ Through the front door. ]
Good. So you know doors work.
[ If you'd rather talk some other time I could j-
you cut her off again. ]
He doesn't like him.
[ Who?
You repeat with more emphasis. ]
He doesn't like him.
[ Him? Do you mean Trent? Who doesn't like him? Who is he? ]
He doesn't like you either.
[ Who doesn't like me? ]
Go ahead. Ask the other thing.
[ What? ]
Ask what you came here to ask.
[ They told me you confessed to killing your parents.
The silence stretches out and you simply stare at her.
But you didn't really kill them, did you?
But you did. She's going to figure out how, you're setting the stage for it. ]
They're coming to tell you about Trent.
[ What?
While you've been with Alex, you've also been in Trent's room. But what you were doing in there wasn't nearly as important as what happened with Alex. And Trent wouldn't be hurting your head with his prayers for tonight.
You'd set the stage for the next steps. Tomorrow, you'd meet Strand too. You're already anticipating it. ]

I always thought it was you who said it, after I met you. But Nic thought I was nuts.

That's true.
[And then more seriously:]
Is that why you escalated things with Trent? So that they would call the studio for us to come and meet you? I always wondered if it was.

[Her voice is soft and sweet.]
It's hard to understand. [But she knows Simon and she likes him for all his awkwardness.] Did they hurt you?
no subject
They hurt other kids. They wanted to use them.

Parents should love their children.
[She pauses briefly and then adds.]
Is Alex like a mom to you? She loves you.
no subject
No.
no subject
I think that's what mothers do.
[She doesn't really know.]
