Aren't you going to miss him though? You're allowed to feel upset because of that.

We hadn't known one another long.

That doesn't really have anything to do with how much you miss someone though, if you have a connection.

Arthur makes connections easily. Many people will miss him.

I will. I liked him. But he wasn't from my home.

If someone from home left, I'd be devastated.

[Alex can admit that.]

I don't have the luxury to be devastated.

Why not? You're not at home now. You don't have to be a leader here. You can just take time to be sad. You don't need to pretend that you're fine if you aren't.

That isn't how it works.

You don't stop being who you are because you're somewhere else.

Yeah, but it's never good to just be one thing. Especially one thing that means that you have to put so much of who you are to one side.

I know I have. But I've also had a lot of expectations too.

Shall I assume you overcame your expectations and chose to do whatever you wanted instead?

In some ways, I guess. But never in all of them.
