[He has had time to collect himself; to not give into fear immediately - though that had been a challenge! His appearance is likely startling - unless his shay'kreth'ashke is well known. From his white hair to his icy blue eyes, Moondance will be easily recognized both on the network and off.]

Bright the day, my friends. I do not know what to say of our accommodations, though I count it promising that we are alive. My name is Moondance k'Treva and I am what is known as a Healing-Adept. What that means is: I am able to heal people as well as places.

[The second portion of his power has been taken from him - though he does not realize it yet. His merry, inviting tone is punctuated with a shyer smile.]

Now, tell me where it hurts, hm? I will feel better if I am busy, so think of this as you doing me a favor!

So I have been told! I am a Mage and an Adept one at that. Does that answer your inquiry?

In a manner of speaking, yes. With such a title, am I to assume this was learned at some sort of academy?

I lived with the Tayledras and I was adopted by their clan. They are some of the most powerful Mages in my world. You can find no better to heal your land or your people.

[He can appreciate that. He was adopted, himself, though he has no memory of his native culture, having been an infant at the time.]

How does one heal an entire people?

One person at a time. [He is a little amused; he hadn't meant a population as a whole.]

I see. And how do you determine what requires healing? I assume you mean more than bruises.

Bruises, broken bones, gashes and internal wounds have to do with the physical body, but I can help the mind and the soul mend too.

[Give him a moment. He's suddenly reminded of the tattered tapestry the Mind Stone left behind after he was taken home, how lost and left to flounder he'd been in his lonely cell, with only the illusionary visitation of his mother to momentarily console him. Yes, he'd been a villain, a murderer, and conquerer, but he'd also been tortured for two years prior to it.

If their healers had been capable of such things, would his mother be dead?

He swallows before responding because really, the man didn't need to hear his inner turmoil, even though some still came through.]

Well, that sounds useful.

[Moondance is the sort that would have tried to keep her alive, reminding her as often as necessary the reasons why life is worthwhile. He can do the same for Loki, though he cannot erase the trauma and torture he has endured. The point is to learn to live with the horror and then, eventually, overcome it.]

My heart breaks when I am given a broken soul to mend, but I have yet to fail.

[He lapses silence for a moment, not even certain if he wants an answer to the question that keeps coming up in his mind.]

How does one go about healing a soul?

The difficult memories must be faced, slowly, carefully, and the cracks in the mind can begin to heal. Difficult emotions will inevitably rear their heads and they can be conquered with support, peace and time. Magic does help if deep, dreamless sleep is needed.

I can see to a patient's rest for two weeks if they are too exhausted to begin the process. Then I wake them and we begin.

[Vanyel was his hardest case, but Moondance hadn't left him. He saw to his every need until he could stand on his own.]

[If his next few moments of silence are any indication, Loki isn't sure how he feels about this particular process. It sounded painful in more ways than simply the one, and yet a small voice at the back of his mind reminds him he was a broken man, once, lost in lies and betrayal, and he'd turned that pain into hatred and rage. It had nearly destroyed a world, it had murdered his mother, it had nearly cost him the love of his father and his brother...]

You must truly have a healer's spirit. [And when in doubt, resorting to sarcasm is the best tactic, right?] Most don't want to face their own problems, and yet you're willing to fight others' for them.

[Moondance acknowledges that it is difficult, but so is living. Pain can be a sign of life, though it need not carry on and on with a healer close by. It is his duty to dull that pain - to make it manageable - as the patient learns to overcome it. Vanyel, for example, had needed help walking when he first left Moondance's bed. Thankfully he had begun the emotional healing while the poor boy had slept or they would have had two demons to face: physical exhaustion and weakness as well as a broken lifebond (which basically indicates a fractured heart and soul).]

I had no choice but to face mine. I survived - by the skin of my teeth - and I like encouraging others to live and to find the little joys that make the struggle worthwhile.

Aw, and that is touching. [And at that, he laughs, slightly.] I don't mean to belittle your motivation. It's just so rare.

I am being genuine. [He is puzzled, wondering if the other believes him.]

Healing is what I do. I take it very seriously.

Oh, yes, and I fully believe you. You're just something of a unicorn, aren't you?

If you mean I am rare, ah...

Yes. My Master made that obvious when I started turning white.

Well, I meant more in your utter selflessness, but yes. We'll go with that, too. Your hair wasn't always white, then?

I can be selfish. I like having a luxurious bed for one and hot springs to soak in as I please.

[He is a proud bird.]

No, it was the color of mud once.

It sounds as though you didn't like it.

My Master thinks me silly for my bed in particular.

[The Tayledras don't require much, but Moondance likes his comfort.]

I didn't like me. I was miserable. It is difficult to hide who you are constantly.

Silly perhaps, but he hasn't forbade it.

[He smiles.]

Perhaps for some more so than others. Is there much call to hide who you are?

He wouldn't forbid me much.

[Moondance is perpetually on Starwind's good side.]

Yes. My family did not agree with my attractions and they were prepared to send me to a monastery.

I see. [There's a beat before he continues.] What do your attractions have to do with your hair color?

I would not have become a Tayledras if I had not...been as I am. [He sighs, wincing.] I killed my first love in a fit of rage. I was...broken...and the Tayledras put me back together.
