[He supposed this was something like a podcast or a radio show, only instead of recording one's voice and posting it only, one simply thought and it was so. Useful if a little cumbersome, fascinating though. His voice, a deep baritone, warm and welcoming in tone, was softly accented and sounded vaguely western European.]

Good evening...what is it we call ourselves? Citizens? Spherites? Spherians? [A self-deprecating chuckle filters across the network before he continues.] Which do you prefer?

[A sigh, and a moment's pause.]

Forgive me. I digress. If I understand our situation correctly, many of you have been here for some time, a year or even more in some cases, yes? What do you make of this place? Even those of us who have only been here a short time, I would know your minds as well. I can understand your predicament is troubling, and why not? To my knowledge, such a structure should be physically impossible, and I've yet to find any record of schematics explaining the construction. That's to say nothing of the means of communication with which we've been provided.

Very disconcerting, I know, but it is, and thus it can be understood. I'd like to know how far we've come. Thank you in advance.

[There's a beat before he chuckles again.]

Forgive my lack of manners. My name is Antonio. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

(OOC: If you'd like, we can totally continue the threads on his TDM post! We can continue them here or there, whichever you'd prever!)

No, if this is possible then there is probably little else that is impossible as well... Although, considering how alarming this all is to begin with, I certainly hope we all have a chance to adjust before any further chaos ensues...

[Does he sound confident about that? No. No he doesn’t. Chances are he already expects it with weary resignation.]

That is an optimistic outlook, if I ever heard one. I wish I could share your opinion, but I fear the chances of the such a large group pulling through such a situation is a bit slim.

I wouldn’t say resigned to defeat... If I were, I wouldn’t try at all. I’m simply keeping a realistic outlook on the situation. In my experience it is better to be prepared for the less ideal outcome than to get my hopes up too high.

[It’s part of how he copes at this point life.]

But! I’m not saying it’s bad to be optimistic. It’s important that someone be, if only to keep the rest of us from coming down with too serious a case of the morbs as they say. I had a friend who was like that once, and it certainly helped most situations rather than hinder them.

Indeed, it can. Which is why it’s good to know someone among us is capable of it.

[He wants to be... He really does; but it’s a hard mindset to work through these days. It’s easier when it’s for the benefit of another, even if he doesn’t believe it, but genuine optimism for his own peace of mind doesn’t come easy anymore.]

[Llewellyn smiled a little at that,]

I imagine if my proclivity for pessimism is forgivable, I imagine you have as much a right to a moment of it as well.

I don’t think one is meant to force optimism or cheer, it’s uh... meant to be a less stressful emotion after all. To give hope to yourself or another.

Well... At least that’s how it looks.

Mm... It is, I wouldn’t argue that. I simply suggest that if you feel the need to let it go for a time that could hardly be held against you.

[If he is allowed to insist the glass is half full, he can hardly blame someone else for sliding to that end of the scale.

And he has tried... For the benefit of others, he has tried to insist upon there being light at the end of things; but hope is like a rug waiting to be pulled out from under his feet.
