So... this Magnolia Warbler just kind of showed up in my dome. Which is weird, right? I’ve never seen any birds here before.

I don’t know good bird names, Stan. What are some of them?

[stantheman]

There's tweety bird...

[gristle]

[Bev makes a face.]

You can't call it Tweety Bird. That's dumb.

[stantheman]

I've never really had to name an animal before.

[gristle]

We can go to the library. Look up better names.

[stantheman]

You'd do that with me?

[gristle]

Duh. I’m offering.

[stantheman]

Okay. Thank you.

[gristle]

Sure. Meet you there?

[stantheman]

Yeah.

[ And Stan heads over to the library. The bird is in tow, flying around him and never venturing far from him at all. Stan hadn't wanted to leave it alone in his dorm despite being a bit worried it might just fly off and then he'd never see him again.

He paces a bit near the door as he waits for Bev to arrive. ]

[gristle]

[Bev has left Thor at home with his toys because she expected that Stan would wanna bring his bird with him and she doesn’t want Thor to think it’s dinner. When she sees him, she just grins.]

So is it eating out of your hand yet?

[stantheman]

[ Stan certainly would have been a bit nervous about a dog and a bird together at the moment so it was a good call. ]

Not quite but it seems to want to stay near me.

[gristle]

Well, I mean, that's a good thing, right? Because you want to be able to make sure it doesn't get all loose in the dome or whatever. Do you know what it eats?

[stantheman]

Yeah, though usually...I prefer birds not be in captivity.

[ Stan thinks for a minute. ]

The usually eat insects and spiders...

[ Where is he going to find that? ]

[gristle]

The Sphere made sure I had the right food for Thor, I'm sure that it's going to make sure that you have the right food for your bird. It wouldn't like... Give it to you and then let it starve to death or something really terrible like that, you know?

[stantheman]

[ Stan nods, and he looks at the bird again. It's still weird to think that it's his or something. He'd never thought about actually having a bird of his own. The pidgey at Riverview had never really counted he thought. ]

I guess it'll work out anyway.

[gristle]

It will. We just gotta figure out a name for it. Is it a girl or a boy?

[stantheman]

It's a boy. Boys have brighter coloring than girls so they can attract a mate.

[gristle]

Okay. So good bird boy names then. Got it.

[A pause and she thinks.]

What about Merlin's owl? You know from the Sword and the Stone?

[stantheman]

Archimedes...?

[ Stan thinks about it and it's an interesting name. ]

That'll drive Richie crazy.

[ He says with a wry smile. ]

[gristle]

[Bev just gives him a grin back.]

It so would. So it's gotta be his name!

[stantheman]

Archimedes it is then..

[ Stan smiles at her and the bird seems to recognize the fact it just got named or at least Stan thinks it might but that's a little crazy isn't it? ]
