memeshare Time For Something Fun

The memory opens on Charis in a red dress that looks like something worn in the Edwardian age. She's currently trying to maneuver herself up from a rather compromising position on top of a man with a handlebar mustache. Gotta love how hard it is to move in these damn dresses.

"Begging your pardon, Miss! Please allow me to apologize for the compromising position I seem to have..." the man with the mustache stutters out.

"Don't be so stuffy, Doctor. It was me who fell into your arms." Charis responds as she pulls herself up.

"To your feet, Watson! The killer cleric shall not escape us!" A voice shouts out as a man in a jacket and vest starts to run forward.

"Quite passionate when he gets going, isn't he?" she asks as she offers a hand to the doctor.

Fog swirls around the group of three as they chase down the prey they're hunting. For a moment it seems they've lost him until maniacal laughter breaks out and then the clatter of hooves can be heard ringing down the empty streets of London. A man on a horse and carriage races past while firing his weapon at them. They're barely able to dodge.

"Driver! Sherlock Holmes requires the use of your carriage on a matter of gravest importance. will you oblige?" the man demands of an empty carriage.

"Only for you, Mister 'Olmes." The driver says as he gives the carriage over.

"Your reputation precedes you, Mr. Holmes." Charis says as they take off in pursuit.

"And yours should carry a government health warning, my dear. What devilry is this--invulnerability to gunfire, flaming swords that rise from the body, strength beyond that of a mortal man?!" Holmes questions.

"Not devilry, Mr. Holmes, just science, though far in advance of any this world is aware of." Charis responds.

"I'll say! Worse than Dr. Frankenstein and his grave-robbing machinations!" Holmes retorts.

"Excuse me, gentlemen, but I need a little more freedom of movement then your society likes to give it's women." Charis says as she rips the dress off, stripping down to her corset and garters.

"I fear this tale may be a little too risque for your regular reader in the Strand, Watson." Holmes doesn't even try to hide the slightly shocked expression on his face.

"Not to mention my wife, Holmes!" Watson responds, though he doesn't look away.

"Steady as she goes, Mr. Holmes." Charis says as she prepares to leap from their carriage to the targets carriage.

"Good lord, Miss Adrastea!" Watson shouts as she makes the jump. A swordfight breaks out between Charis and a blond cleric with a claw for a hand and a flaming sword. The carriage starts to fall apart as the horses break free and Charis loses her balance. The cleric raises his sword for a final blow to Charis as maniacal laughter echoes around her.

"The lord giveth and the lord taketh--" a sword goes straight through him from the back.

"En garde, fiend!" Holmes says as he pulls the bloody sword from the body.

"Bravo, Holmes!" Watson shouts as he pulls Charis up from the ledge she'd almost found herself falling off of.

"Hardly my finest case, Watson. Not only did I stab the villain in the back, but I had precious few opportunities to exercise that keen deductive mind you're always writing about..." For a moment Holmes sounds almost disappointed, bordering on sulky. His tone picks up though as he bows to Charis and offers her sword back to her.

"However, I daresay I've uncovered a mystery more suited to my talents. I suspect there's moer to you and the events of this night than you've alluded to, Miss Adrastea." He says as she takes her sword.

"That, Mr. Holmes is a myster I'd advise you not to try and solve," she says with a bow in return.

"And that, my dear is a challenge I may not be able to resist," he responds as he takes his pipe out.

She smirks as she turns around. "Then, the game's afoot, Mr. Holmes! I only hope you can keep up..."

[Alex and Charis had discussed her being the Woman in Holmes before, but it's something else to see it in this context. So, she just sounds incredibly amused and slightly teasing when she replies:]

Well, I can see why you impressed him so!
11calls: this is all richard's fault (cat ears)

Aren't they both the same thing, really?

[Alex is here for the rest of this story.]

How close did he get?

All that logic and reason.

[She knows the feeling.]

[Okay, that makes her laugh and Alex can't help but to ask:]

Really?

I always thought they liked to have arguments, really.

[Not unlike Alex herself.]

You're quite good with a sword. I've never seen anything quite like it.

[He is not going to get overly excited about this; he isn’t his friend George or Detective Murdoch...

But it would be a lie to say he wasn’t incredibly interested to learn that the characters from the book that was a large part of his childhood were real in another world. Not to mention the fact that Charis’ experience with them was quite... an event.
]

It seems you’re world is um— quite full of excitement.

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2020-04-25 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm... Yes, that’s quite clear by the looks of it.

[He can’t help but ask further on the subject, of course.]

Did you cross paths with Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson often in that time?
gadaboutdetective: (108)

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2020-05-02 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... Did he ever work it out? Or were you able to stump him?
gadaboutdetective: (181)

[personal profile] gadaboutdetective 2020-05-04 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Ah— it can be difficult to accept that which seems impossible. I know even I would have a difficult time accepting it if I weren’t here...

[Humming a little, he adds.]

But with evidence supporting it, or a lack of evidence to disprove it? It seems more logical to entertain the possibility. Of course... My fellow detective might argue against the notion, he’s very mm... stubborn about the unknown.
