[When the video comes on, it’s a tired looking black woman who is sitting in her office in the infirmary. Her entire attitude is one that is no nonsense, and she has a clipped, firm way of speaking.]
Alright, I’m really damned sick of doing all of this shit myself. We shoulda done this ages ago, but we kept putting it off in order for the time to be right. Well, the time is right now. So for those of you who don’t know who I am, I’m Laurie and I’m one of the two members of the Council. I’m also the head of the Infirmary around here, so you may have met me if you’ve needed to be patched up for something.
But the Council has always supposed to be three people, and we haven’t filled that position since Annie. So right now I’m opening nominations for the vacant seat on the Council. What it means is it should be someone who’s interested in helping out the Community here and guiding it through trouble. Who’s been here longer or your age doesn’t matter, as long as you have the compassion and skills to do it.
What the Council does for those of you who aren’t familiar: we plan the things that happen every month. The parties and the festivals, not the other shit. That is all the Sphere and trust me if we could have stopped it, we would have done it a hell of a long time ago. We also approve loans for starting up businesses, and when needed, we act as the justice system, though we haven’t needed to do that for a while.
Because I want to make this fair and so no one can say that it wasn’t, I’m asking for someone to volunteer to be the one who counts votes and make sure that there isn’t any sort of funny business. The voting will take place in person in the infirmary lobby.
So nominate who you want. Nominated people will need to agree that they’re willing to do it. You can totally nominate yourself if you’d like to. No shame in that. Nominations will be open for two weeks, and then the voting will be open for a week. Campaign, make speeches, tell people why they should be voting for you! We’ll take whoever wins the election.
