[Llewellyn is annoyed, his brows furrowed severely (more so than usual) as he regarded the network with a deep frown. There’s something rather off about him, frown aside, but it might not be obvious at first...

It’s been a couple days since the 25th, and it seems that he’s been driven to distraction by something. He’s been looking everywhere, with no success.]

I’m not particularly optimistic in asking this, but have any of you seen my hat? Grey felted homburg. Mm... for anyone who doesn’t know hats, it’s a little like a bowler but with a dent in the top. A little worn, but in good condition?

[Ah, that’s it. That’s what’s different! His nicely kept, curly hair isn’t obscured by his usual old-fashioned hat.]

And before any of you bring it up? Yes! I do understand that the idea of a detective not being able to find something is amusing.

[He still expects someone is going to tease him about this, but the attempt to avoid that had to be made. He’s grumpy, he’s used to having his hat. His head feels weird when he goes out without it, it’s distracting!

Shrugging lightly, he continued.]

I do have a habit of leaving it in rather random places, so if I’ve been to your dome or establishment and taken it off, I thought I might have done so.

That’s something... A greater number of people have received things, then. Or— at least I haven’t heard of anyone else losing something.

[Perhaps his hat was unrelated to the whole situation, or maybe there was something more to it.]

Tell me, is there anything that stood out to you about the elf and the appearance of your ‘gift?’

[He hasn't found out that she lost something, though.]

Ah, yes... She was rather upset at her elf, as I recall. It might be worth asking her, just to be certain?

If she lost something it's going to be problematic.

I would say that losing something is problematic in general.

[Because not having a hat whenever he went out was a problem, it was a very big problem.

... Maybe not a big problem in the grand scheme, but enough of one to put annoy him whenever he went to go out and turned instinctively to grab his hat.]

That said... I presume that it’s more about her reaction to having lost something that you mean to be concerned about.

[He remembered the tree, even if she had put it back together again it had been quite a... thing.]

I do. She's a very emotional person.

Uh... I’ve noticed that.

[He can’t say anything, Llewellyn was known to making rash decisions when emotions ran high.]

Though that being the case, I suppose if she had lost something we would have heard about it without asking, hm?

It's possible that she's managed to hold it in.

[For now. The longer it takes for her to take her anger out, the more likely it is for her to explode big.]

I suppose it would also largely depend on what has been taken, if something has.

Let me know if you find out before I do, or if you see a sign of my hat. If enough people have lost things as well as those who gained something, we can probably safely say what the intent behind the elves was.

I've done some research on them. Apparently, in some worlds, they're considered the eyes and ears of a being known as Santa Clause. It gives presents to people who are being good.

Ah, yes... Rather invasive tactics to ensure a child behaves in my opinion, my world is actually sort of the uh— past of those worlds according to some. I’m apparently closer to rather unsettling holiday songs from what I understand.

[Something about ‘you better watch out’ and ‘he sees you when your sleeping’ that Llewellyn finds altogether creepy.]
