[ Please give a warm welcome back to a walking representation of early 2000s Hot Topic. The woman that comes on the screen has strikingly green hair, a black studded jacket, and an unenthusiastic expression. ]

Soooo [ she folds her arms across her chest and heaves a sigh. Try to be polite, Polaris. Don't start of making enemies right away. ] I'm Polaris. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has more important things to be doing, so I'll spare you all a complaint filled introduction. [ She's that generous. She runs a hand through hair hair and sighs again. ]

I'll keep it short and sweet: what are the things I need to know about this prison? Rules, problems, problem people, and especially progress you've all made on getting out. That one first preferably. [ Surely someone's made progress, right? Please say someone's made progress. ]

And let me know when the group townhall kumbaya meetings are. We're all stuck here together, right? Guessing people meet occasionally to discuss the shit they've found out. [ A pause and then she awkwardly adds: ] Thanks.

I've been meaning to ask if there's a good place to get a drink here. I feel like I need one.

'Course there is, if ya know where to look. I'll show you a tavern where the drinks ain't ever stingy. Drinks are on me.

[He chuckles.]

I girl with simple pleasures. I like that.

[ferrokinetically]

You live in the mutant underground for a few years and you learn to really appreciate the simple things.

[And that gave him pause.]

The underground. It's the resistance against Sentinel Services.

[athiefalways]

Senetinel Services?

[There was a subtle emphasis on the second word, as though the first wasn't unkown to him.]

[ferrokinetically]

The government's friendly mutant roundup service.

[athiefalways]

[So, the government was successful...]

Round up? Makin' us register wasn't enough?

[ferrokinetically]

Us, hm? [ She'd wondered, but at least he confirmed it now. ] It's illegal to hide that you're a mutant from the government. Sentinel Services is in charge of catching people that try to hide it or who use their powers in public and sending them to detention centers. They also created mutant inhibitor collars and hounds.

[athiefalways]

You think these beauties were contacts, cher?

[He chuckles, for no other reason than to soften the blow of what she said next.] I heard of inhibitor collars, but...do I even wanna know what a hound is?

[ferrokinetically]

Didn't want to assume. [ She smirks very briefly and then shakes her head. ]

We didn't even want to know what the hound program was.

[athiefalways]

That's true. We all know what assumin' does, non?

[He frowned. He didn't want to know, but he did, and she deserved the ear of someone who'd listen and not make light of it.]

How 'bout those beers, eh?

[ferrokinetically]

I wouldn't turn it down right now.

[athiefalways]

Sounds like a plan, then.

[ferrokinetically]

[ This meeting would be a lot different if it wasn't for Remy's eyes. Not that she wasn't still on edge, there was no hiding that she was. The idea that he might be a mutant managed to put some of her tension at ease though. At least she didn't have to deal with the immediate uncertainty that came with him being human. Small favors right? It was much later into the night when they'd agreed to meet, give her some time to speak to a few other people and at least look around by herself. When she walked in she had her hands in her pockets and her shoulders were visibly tensed. ]

Sorry, am I later than we said?

[athiefalways]

[She wasn't the Lorna he knew, that much was obvious just from the small amount she'd told him of her world, but she was similar enough, and that familiarity was enough to make him want to meet her. That and, while this certainly wasn't his first rodeo, being trapped at the bottom of the ocean with no one you knew would dishearten anyone. Maybe they could help each other.

He hadn't expected her to make a direct trip to the bar, so he wasn't surprised she showed up later than expected. He smiled at her when she approached, rolling a shoulder in a slight shrug.]

Ain't a big deal, cher. Ain't like I'm chargin' late fees. You find your way okay?

[ferrokinetically]

[ She gave a small shrug in response. ] Well enough. Made a few stops first. This place has some weird shit going on. [ And she didn't just mean the obvious things, she meant more like the people that knew her that she didn't remember at all. There was something unnerving about that. Not just unnerving actually, for some reason it made her feel guilty for not remembering them. Nothing about that made sense. ]

Glad you weren't charging though, was worried I'd lose out on my free drink. [ Which she felt like she desperately needed after some of this. ]

[athiefalways]

Tell me about it.

[He'd had that happen a couple times here himself, and not just people who didn't or did remember him from home, but people from other worlds he didn't know who knew him. It was disorienting to be sure and he sympathized.]

Never. Solidarity counts for somethin', non?

[ferrokinetically]

Solidarity huh? [ She quirked an eyebrow. ] Mutants have to stick together, even if we're from different places?

[athiefalways]

Truth is, cher, it gets to a point where you don't know who to trust, but sometimes, you just gotta go for it, risk a little, and hope it turns out for the best, non?

[As he spoke, he motioned toward the door of the establishment. It had an old world feel to it, with polished wooden tables made to look far more weathered than they were. It was a homey place and he loved it.]

[ferrokinetically]

[ She followed him inside and tried to not make it as obvious that she was checking the place out. Paranoia followed closely. ]

Can't say that's worked out too well for me recently.

[athiefalways]

Can't win 'em all, non? [He motions to a seemingly familiar booth but doesn't have a seat just yet.] What's your poison, cher?

[ferrokinetically]

[ She gave a shrug and then a small smirk. ] What's the best you have to offer?
