Rhus is leaning against a table, his arms on the surface of it so his lower body is not visible, but every so often, there will be a fuzzy tail swishing to and fro behind him. Just in case you didn't believe that he's indeed rather cat-like.]

Rhus, an adventurer, at your service. [His voice is soft and even, but not at all cautious or nervous. Clearly he's no stranger to being in unusual places. But he's also putting on a front, just so he wont panic, and so other people wont panic either.]

If any of you distrust the medicines here, I'm willin' to be the healer you're lookin' for. Though if it were a cure for overdrinkin' you're looking for, I've not the materials for that yet.

[Yet, he says. Meaning he could make one!]

[Yeah, Bev's defensive. Sorry.]

I shall only accept that as a compliment if you are not about to say that is because I look like an animal.

[gristle]

You don't look the same as people at home do!

[verstoned]

And? [He leans his elbows on the surface of the table before him.] Does that make me less or more than you?

[He's trying to teach a lesson here.]

[gristle]

It's not about you being more or less than me!

[Bev's voice is indiginat.]

I'm not like racist or something!

No, you just think I look like an animal, yes? And couldn't help but blurt it out, even wonder if I am real.

[gristle]

[For a moment, Bev doesn't know what to say to this. She wants to lash out, be sharp and be jagged and angry, but he's right and she's in the wrong here. It sucks and it hurts and it makes her feel entirely off-kilter.

So she takes a deep breath and tries to be more like she should be and less like the girl who was ripped from a City where she actually felt like she was loved and valued and wanted by adults for the first time.]

[verstoned]

[Rhus inclines his head in acknowledgement. This is what he was waiting for-- her realisation.]

Nobody likes bein' told they look like an animal or a toy, much less bein' asked if they're real. Best keep that in mind, aye?

[Not a good conversation starter either.]

[It's quick, and it's clear that she means it. But she also hangs up because she's not really sure what else to say.]
