[There will be an image of a cat-like man projected-- dark hair, white robes, green eyes, and two large, dark-furred ears. That are twitching. Yes, they are indeed real.

Rhus is leaning against a table, his arms on the surface of it so his lower body is not visible, but every so often, there will be a fuzzy tail swishing to and fro behind him. Just in case you didn't believe that he's indeed rather cat-like.]

Rhus, an adventurer, at your service. [His voice is soft and even, but not at all cautious or nervous. Clearly he's no stranger to being in unusual places. But he's also putting on a front, just so he wont panic, and so other people wont panic either.]

If any of you distrust the medicines here, I'm willin' to be the healer you're lookin' for. Though if it were a cure for overdrinkin' you're looking for, I've not the materials for that yet.

[Yet, he says. Meaning he could make one!]

Sid. Don't take it personally, he dislikes everyone. [Tucking his pipe and tobacco pouch back into his robes, Rhus stands quickly.

He was not expecting an actual friend to be here-- he was merely making a shot in the dark as a joke to himself... but clearly there's someone he knows here.

Now he definitely cant be idle.]

I need to see him.

[Rhys furrows his brow. What are the odds that he'd be talking to someone who knows Sid?]

Try looking him up on the network. That might be faster than just wandering through this place and looking for him. Then again, you may have better luck going straight to the black market.

[verstoned]

[The Miqo'te's brow furrows for a moment, and then Rhys' feed of Rhus cuts out.

When it comes back minutes later, he's got his pipe again, and the weed in it has been lit. He's clearly smoking. Getting his idiotic arse high, really.]

There's no trace of him to be found. Indeed, I was told his quarters 'ad been those I live in now.

[That was rather rude. But they are pretty much strangers, so really, Rhus doesn't owe him any polite goodbyes. It's just as well. Rhys has other things he could be doing.

He's just about to tinker with Dumpy when Rhus returns.]

He's gone? That was fast...I think we arrived around the same time.

[verstoned]

Hrrrm... [Rhus blows smoke from his nose like a dragon.]

How long ago was tha', then?

Almost a month. [He shrugs and decides to work on his little bot anyways.] Too bad we can't get a message out of this place. Otherwise, you could ask him how he got out so fast.

[verstoned]

[Rhus sighs.] Knowin' him, Sid likely punched someone he should not 'ave.

[Because... that's just how Sid operates. Though Rhus wouldn't exchange him for any other dark knight friend.]

Mayhap like yourself-- or he did something else, I'm sure.

The council says the Sphere won't let anyone get hurt. Maybe your friend got tossed because he tried to kill me~

[He presses a button to test his work, but only gets a more distorted screech from Dumpy. Maybe he just needs to replace the entire vocal processor...] How long have you known that asshole?

[verstoned]

[Rhus' ears pin back when he hears the warbling screech of what is obviously some piece of technology-- he's had enough experiences with those to not even bother trying to understand them, and leave it to the professionals.]

Long enough to know that if he truly wanted to kill you, you'd not be here now. [Because he truly knows Sid-- and knows that this man is just blowing things out of proportion. And of course, he's fought with the man, knows exactly how much control over himself the Au Ra truly has.] He would 'ave just done it and not batted an eye.

Dammit...[He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.]

That reminds me, I was trying to get him to teach me how to fight. He kept going on about his path, though, and how my grudges were insignificant.

[verstoned]

I am not surprised. [With a raised brow, Rhus looks the man up and down, and from what he can see... he can tell Sid is right.]

Cheer up, you're not angry enough to be a dark knight!

[Really, it's a good thing.]

[What is with these people?

Rhys rolls his eyes and sets his tools aside.] I don't want to be a dark knight. I just wanna learn how to fight. I can aim a gun well enough now, but I still suck at hand-to-hand stuff.

[verstoned]

Bear no grudge against Sid for that-- the path is the only one he knows to walk, and dosn't take fools lightly. And you went up to him brushing him in all the wrong ways, I'm sure. [Dealing with Sidurgu tends to be... tricky, in Rhus' opinion. Even he was rebuffed before the Miqo'te became a dark knight himself.]

Were you that desperate?

Okay, one? I'm not a fool. And two? I'm not. Desperate. [He does feel a little bit like he's being teased over things beyond wanting to learn to defend himself. Which, wow, rude.]

Sid's the one that brushed me in all the wrong ways. Namely, by trying to kill me. I don't even think I'd said much to the guy.

[verstoned]

As I said, if he truly wanted you dead, you'd not be 'ere.

[Rhus takes a deep breath from his pipe, and exhales, blowing out a truly impressive cloud of smoke before it fades away.]

Do you still want to learn, or not?

[Rhys shrugs, considering the question.] I'd like to. I can pay you, or maybe teach you a new skill in return.

[verstoned]

I prefer money. [A shrug in return.] After all, I don't have any of the currency here.

[Very visibly, and perhaps a touch overly dramatic, Rhys breathes a sigh of relief.]

Oh my god, you're normal! For a moment there, I was worried I'd find myself at the end of another threat.

[verstoned]

[Looks like someone has a rather boring definition of "normal".]

It's only practical if I'm to be a mentor to a student like yourself.

See, that's what I thought. But I offered to pay Sid, and I'm pretty sure it offended him.

Of course it would 'ave. He doesn't like people with fat purses full of coin who bandy their wealth about so easily.

[Rhys scoffs at the description. He's not like that anymore. Not...nearly as bad, anyways.]

Hey, I was just trying to offer him compensation for his services, I wasn't trying to...bandy wealth. I dunno how much I'm gonna have down here, anyways.

[verstoned]

[Rhus' only visible eyebrow raises.]

How much do you 'ave? [Because if Rhys doesn't actually have money to pay him... they're going to have a problem.]

I have enough. [It just may not be physically in his possession. Or of the currency the Sphere uses.]

Besides, I'll be making more if I can set up a shop or something.

[verstoned]

[Meaning: none. Rhus crosses his arms over his chest.]

I don't often accept debts of money, you understand. But I'm willing to push back my demands until you do something 'bout your financial situation.
