You see Rex on the other side of the field, and there's a confident grin on your face. You look down at your hand and you drew just the right cards to crush those dumb dinosaurs of his, and when you look around, at the crowd and the spotlights, everything feels right. This is where you belong.

It was hard work reaching the National finals, and here you are, and there are people cheering your name, and it makes you feel good, accepted, and, well, you are actually happy.

You lay down your cards beautifully, and you don't even need to use Insect Queen to rise to victory, and before you know it, the speakers call out your name, crowning you as National Champion.

Your heart is fluttering, and your eyes are bright behind your thick glasses, and when your platform lowers so you can get the trophy from the hands of Pegasus' himself, you can't fight the blush that comes to your cheeks. Everything is so overwhelming, it feels like a dream. You don't remember ever feeling this good and this accomplished.

You just proved everyone what you always believed: that you are much, much better than everyone else.

[That wasn't a bad memory in the least, and yet, Haga doesn't look exactly thrilled about it. He actually looks very, very annoyed.]

Ugh, so this place is bringing that back, hm? Good... [He rolls his eyes, eyebrows knitted. One would think he would be glad to have something so good about him shown around, and yet... He isn't bragging as expected.]

[Normally, Rhys wouldn't bother talking to kids, but this memory seemed right up his alley. It involved a nerdy game, it seemed.]

So, you were the national champion of this...uh, what is this game called?

[He doesn't recognize this voice from the barage of people who messaged him when he made his first broadcast, so that's a plus. Another plus is that whoever this is doesn't want to talk about the memory itself, but Duel Monsters. He wasn't willing to talk about the Nationals, but he's always down for card games.]

It's called Duel Monsters. It's one of the best card games ever created, and it has the coolest bugs. It sucks they don't have it here though. [He didn't arrive in this place with his deck, and even if he did, no one else would have one anyway, so he wouldn't be able to duel anyone.]

I see...That does suck. I'd love to learn to play it. [It'd be something to try and bring a sense of normalcy back to his and Vaughn's friendship. Everything else just seems to remind Vaughn of the time before the station crash...]

You know, back home, I ran a game that didn't really require much more than imagination. The character sheets can be written up easily, I ended up having to draw out maps anyways, and I'm sure this place has dice. We'd just need a couple more people to play...

Hm, that sounds like tabletop RPG. I never played it myself but some people at my school did. [Haga always thought it looked fun, but he wasn't friends with the kids that played it, so...]

I guess it would be nice to play it. [Aka, he would like to be invited if you get around to do that.]

It is tabletop, you're right. Our game was called Bunkers n' Badasses, but I'm sure there are other versions. If we could get a group together, I could run the game as Bunkermaster, or whatever you'd like to call it.

[He's quiet for a moment, thinking, and then--]

I bet this place has a more fun way of playing, too. Just looking at the technology...

It's... The Duel Monsters National Championship. It is... was really important to me. It was a card game championship. Duel Monsters is a big deal where I come from. [Honestly, sometimes it feels like everything big that happens in Domino is solved by playing Duel Monsters, which is probably better than the alternative of using violence. Most of the time that is.]

It is fun. It's super fun and I really love it, but... My life took a huge turn for the worse after I took part in that tournament so I guess it made the whole memory kinda unpleasant to remember. [Probably because it was the last time he felt genuinely accomplished? Could be that.]

Well, yes. It is really good. It's the best feeling in the world, but it sucks when that keeps slipping through your fingers over and over... [Stupid Yuugi with his stupid friends and stupid luck.]

Not like that matters now, anyway. It's not like I'm ever competing again.

Hmph, there's no real point when Yuugi is always out there winning every single contest. [He lets out a groan of clear annoyance.]

I mean, no matter what I tried he always got the upper hand on me, so while he's competing I decided not to do it anymore. Too much of a headache... [And considering Yuugi is really into Duel Monster contests... Haga can't see his decision changing any time soon.]
