[A young woman appears. Her long, dark hair is tangled and soaking wet, hanging down in front of her haggard face. Her age is hard to pin down, but it’s clear that she’s seen better days. And worse days, for that matter.]

There is rain that falls from a pipe here!

[This was a fact she’d learned with a shriek when she’d decided to play ‘what does this knob do’ in her room.

Her face lights up when she speaks, though, her accent clearly French.]

First it scalded, then when I tried to turn it off it became incredibly cold! [She giggles though, a rather ugly sound, and moves over to flop down on her bed melodramatically. On her right hand, visible as she gets comfortable, a bright red circular scar can be seen.] And such a bed! Have you ever seen such a bed before?

[She exhales, relaxing into the mattress.]

If this is heaven, I believe I am in the wrong place.

I am not very good in the kitchen. I have not had enough food to have use of one for some time.

[Oh... Well that was another matter entirely. One that he hoped she would be pleased to find would be quite different here.]

I’m not good in the kitchen myself, but I am working on it. You will find that food is quite plentiful here, you uh... you won’t have to worry about going hungry in this place.

[Of course, he supposed that she might need a little assistance in figuring out where all the best food could be found.]

Mm... and I can help you find things once you’re settled in if you like?

[Such a grin breaks out across her face, her few teeth and dimples fully on display for anyone watching. She laughs as she does so.]

Oh! Yes- and all the best foods, I should like to try at least one of everything!

Indeed, for all the confusion and curiosities of this place. It does make sure that we have what we need to survive.

[And given Llewellyn’s appetite, she could trust him on that.]

That’s certainly the uh— best way to do it I think? And there is a very wide variety, much of it I had never even heard of before.

What a wonderful place, then! To ensure it's citizens survive! France is not so kind- that is how I died, you see. I was shot by an officer in the army.

[Because she was taking part in a violent revolution, but that's besides the point.]

Then I surely have not heard of it either. What is your favorite that you have had here?

It can be, though I warn you it has its mm... complications and shortcomings.

[Died? Oh, dear... and in such a horrible way. It confirms some of his suspicions, definitely from the past, and he had known her accent well. Not that languages had a place here, but it was interesting to know they were from a similar world, but different eras.

[The topic of food, however, is a good one. He can spend ages describing things to her.]

There are many things, I’m not particularly sure I can name a favourite? There are a lot of kinds of sweets that I’ve never had before... I’m quite fond of these little biscuit things, chocolate with icing inside. They’re uh— excellent for tucking in your pockets if you need something to eat later.

Many have been, I've found. But they were seldom found and even fewer could change things. They tried, but I'm sure they lost.

Oh! I would like to try those biscuits. [Her entire face lights up at the very thought of them.] Where do we find them?

Well! If you are lucky, the kitchen to your dome might already be stocked with them among the other food provided. If not? I‘m uh— quite sure I could help you find them at the local market. I’ve had to replenish my supply a few times since arriving.
