[Justine is sitting on a couch when she recalls how Thomas had used the strange mental connection to speak with those displaced to the underwater world. Her image appears with ease, her long platinum pearl hair falling in subtle waves over her shoulders. She usually keeps it up but for now, she's alone and there is no need. Her legs are covered in long black leggings while a sheer white lace top protects her torso from direct contact. Beneath that is a white camisole that may appear to some to closely resemble a bra. It's a comfortable and elegant appearance, showing off her natural curves while accenting the innocent touch of her little nose and jaw.

Her dark eyes meet the screen and there is a brief pause before the sweet voice addresses those within the domes.]

This is... still very strange.

I had- a few questions for those who can spare a moment. [She chews softly at her lower lip, pinking the light color of her lips to a warm hue.] My name is Justine and I hope to find work here but my jobs before now have been unique.

I think I know what I want to do but I was wondering about others who had to make the same decisions. Do you all work and is it the same as what you did before? Have you tried something new? Maybe it fits better here than it did where you're from.

Any guidance. [Justine lowers her gaze and looks uncertain.] I could use the help.

I don't know this place, who lives here, what the rules are: spoken and unspoken.

[She pauses and hesitates slightly.]

There is someone here I want to protect. I'll give everything to keep him safe.

They don't want you to kill people.

That is- [What do you say to that.] -I don't think I can but does that mean that people don't die here? That there aren't those who want to hurt us?

We don't belong here. Surely there are people who resent us.

Everyone here was once like us, so they do everything they can to help out. But no, you can't die here. You'll wake up in the pods if you do.

So everyone here was brought here from somewhere else?

[Her brow furrows and she focuses on one specific detail.]

What do you mean? "You'll wake up in the pods"?

The one in your room. The bed.

That is... uncomfortable.

Is there no repercussions? I imagine killing would be illegal.

Not that I'm aware. I would imagine the social stigma would be deterring.

You think so?

I don't know about that. Some people are able to take lives, no matter what it costs others. Don't you think?

You're right, but it might deter some.

You're more optimistic than I am.

[Justine's found that the law does little to protect the truly weak, but then, she's seen some of the worst in people.]

Do you have a governing body where you're from?

There's a counsel. They don't seem to do much.

I see.

So you haven't experienced anyone doing anything overtly bad here? That seems odd but... good. I suppose. [It makes her a little more nervous to know that there aren't too many bad things happening because that means it likely happens where it can't be seen.]

This place does enough to us already. It broadcasts our memories and forces us to live out our fears.

I wouldn't wish my past or my fears on another.

[There is nothing happy in Justine's past and she doesn't really expect anyone to understand her current twisted version of happiness.]

Neither would I, but we don't have a choice.

Hi Justine, I'm Alex. Welcome, and you're right, it's definitely strange as hell.

[It's clear from her voice that Alex does in fact mean it when she says it.]

I know some people work, and some people don't. I do, and I do what I was doing back home, but for some people it's different. Is there something that you're particularly thinking of doing? I know the Council here gives people money to open businesses if they'd like it.

Well, I will likely be a hostess or clerk of some sort. [Something close to Thomas in case the medication here doesn't do what it should.]

I am not too worried about what position I find but I am curious about others.

What it is that you do here?

I'm a reporter. The only one kinda, I run the news service here.

I see. Perhaps you can answer some questions then.

Is there a police or governing body in this place aside from the council? I am curious if there are some sort of law enforcement or if it's the honor system.

There's not really much of law enforcement. I think if something becomes a big enough deal to get the Council's attention then they get involved and sort of deputize people, but it's not really happened in the eighteen months or so that I've been here.

So yeah, kind of honor system. And the Council is the only one who has any real power.

The Council. Do you like them?

[So far she's met one person from the council and he appears charming and helpful but Justine doesn't like him. She doesn't trust people like that, let alone those in a position of power.]

Yeah, so far anyway. I mean, Max is a complete asshole, but I'm rather fond of assholes and he's a friend of my partner so.

Laurie is really no nonsense, but she's kind of hands off. Unless, you know, you need a doctor.

[Alex just grins a bit.]

And Rhy is pretty great!

I'm not sure what else to ask. The more I learn about this place, the more conflicted I feel.

Yeah, it definitely can be really difficult like that honestly. It’s a super adjustment but I’m here to help if you need anything.

Good day my dear lady, I am most definitely free to spare a moment or two. As a member of the council is part of my duties to help our new arrivals adjust to their new situation.

I shall start by saying that I never held a true job in my life, lest you consider being a royal and then King to be a job. It's more a family tradition I suppose. As for now, I have tried something new. When I am not serving my council duties I work with the lovely Miss Inesa, learning to be a tailor.

[Who woudl think it, a king learning to do as the normal people did. Rhy is quite pleased with the work.]

If you wish, I could happily help you reach out to our business community and see where employment might be offered.

[She finds royals to be the least trustworthy people among her acquaintance and Rhy's sincere niceties makes her a little uncertain of his goal.

People aren't that helpful without an end goal of some kind.]

I would not consider that a job in a traditional sense though I suppose it requires a certain kind of work.

I take it that there is no king here? Since you haven't worked for that position, just this 'council' that you are apart of? [Those in power seeking power elsewhere. That much is comfortable to her.]

[Well, then she has a very accurate estimation of royals. Rhy would absolutely agree with her, and not even argue that he's that different. One cannot tell another 'but I am trustworthy' and expect them to believe it. Trust was earned.]

There is indeed no king. In fact, there being one would likely be a very foolish thing indeed. As for the council I was elected to it. It was a very intriguing process. But I work with them for some degree of management of the society of the dome. We plan events, welcome new arrivals, and theoretically will work together should emergencies arise. Not that any has for a while.

[He does offer a warm smile and offers a brief shrug.]

Truthfully I threw my hat, so to speak, into the ring due to the fact that as I was raised to lead, I had a touch more experience with crisis management than others might. And I have been known to throw lovely parties. I consider this more of a learning experience than anything. And my family has often held that royals are servants of the people. There is no pay, no reward for the position, save the service itself.

[Okay, so MAYBE one of the council members gets a lot of stuff out of his position thanks to the black market, but Rhy doesn't.]

[She isn't comfortable being 'ruled' by a group of people she's unfamiliar with and his reasoning doesn't inspire confidence. There must be some other attribute that inspired those here to vote for him.]

I wouldn't say there is no reward.

[Rewards don't have to be a physical or monetary gain.]

But alright. Does this place have many parties? It sounds exhausting or is your goal just to keep us distracted?

Well, I DO get to plan parties. That's fun.

And there typically are festivities toward the start of most months. They have a very rich history of festivals in this world. It's intriguing.

While I enjoy parties, I admit, they aren't my current concern. You're not worried about being here or finding out more about this place?

Of course I am worried about my presence. And I wish to understand more. But the technology of this place is beyond my fathoming. And thus I seek to promote positive morale.

I can understand that position. I haven't been here long, do you plan many events? Do they go over well?

I'm only recently elected. But I'm working on the concept of a talent show. I've learned of them and they are very interesting to think of.

Some people aren't excited.

That is interesting [Though juvenile.] What sort of venue are you planning to use? Will there be themes?

I do not know if a theme will be required, but we usually use some of the larger central domes, such as the markets, for these ends.

Not required but I meant to the auditorium. Though by guess there is always an 'underwater' theme to this place.

Ah, very true, there is always a theme.

Why would we need an auditorium?
