[No video this time. Perhaps that is a message in and of itself from the charismatic member of the council. But his voice carries enough weight as it is. Melancholy and... pensive. Like something is missing.]
This time of the year isn't what it should be. I do not know how to put it, not truly.
In London, my London, we'd be preparing the most fabulous balls. A series of them, using all the ballrooms. One for the nobility and wealthy. One open for the people to see the palace and meet their King and Queen. Another for the sheer joy and celebration for the palace staff. They would be under the stars, and wine would flow and there would be ice sculptures such as only the greatest water mages could make.
[Wistful. Yes, that's what he is. He misses those better days. Misses when his days were simpler, and his responsibilities were light, or non-existent.]
But that is not to be I suppose.
So perhaps I need to think less upon those festivities I shall miss and learn more of what others would have. Tell me, how did your people bring in a new year?

His expression still so hopeful at the idea that he could make Rhy feel such a way, he responded in a quiet tone.]
I only say what I know to be true, Rhy. When I think or feel things so strongly, they must be expressed.
[Even if admitting it was a little frightening in its own way, as if doing so was inviting disaster.]
no subject
What I know to be true is that you hold my heart, my dear. And that fills me with joy.
They’re so soft and I love it
That you trust me to hold it, despite my general clumsiness... [He takes another drink, smiling a little at the idea.] I promise to keep it close, to cherish it, my love.
[He puts his glass down, to take a moment to top off the glasses as he gathered his own thoughts.]
I confess, nothing would make me happier than to know I could make sure you and your heart remain full of such joy. Mm... to make you happy.
no subject
Oh, you could make very sure my love. You could bind yourself to me, and I to you. We could be wedded.
[Well there you have it.]

He was taken by surprise, after all. The surprise gave way to panic and finally settled somewhere between fear and awe.]
What...?
[Eloquent. Definitely a smooth response to a surprise proposal.
And it wasn’t even that he didn’t like the idea, it was more that given his world was the way it was... Llewellyn had given up on the idea of marriage or building a comfortable life with someone. It seemed so far beyond his reach... Thinking about something he couldn’t have hurt, and so he generally didn’t.]
My love— Rhy... Did—
[He glanced at the bottle of wine, absently wondering if this was purely born of too much drink. It had to be, right? Llewellyn was, after all, himself. Who would want him quite like that?]
Did you just ask me...? You know what you just asked me, right?
[Llewellyn was cautious after all, he needed to know. Needed the confirmation that he hadn’t miss heard (not that he could, Llewellyn was incredibly functional when drunk considering he’d solved two cases while under the influence as embarrassing as that was) what Rhy had asked him.]
no subject
I think you'd look good in crimson and gold, my dear.
no subject
You mean other than my face when you make me blush...?
[Comes out first, a random thought that flitted about as he tried to squash some of the anxiety and hope fluttering in his heart. His eye’s searching Rhy’s face, looking for any hints of doubt there.]
You... You mean it, don’t you... You could actually want me like that, even knowing I’m... me?
no subject
[Rhy smiles and slips from the couch, to instead lower himself to his knees.]
Is it a bad idea? Can you argue against it?
no subject
I... No. No, I can’t argue against it, my dearest... I’m not sure there’s anything I could want more. To be able to be yours, to be your husband.
[His hand, lightly shaking, moved to cup Rhy’s cheek with a look that could only be described as adoration.]
no subject
Then you will?
[Even Rhy is a bit shocked that he asked.]
no subject
Yes, yes, I will! I love you, Rhy. If you want me, then I’m yours, truly.
[And he moved forward to kiss Rhy again, a strange lightness warring with the race of his heart. He was wanted; he was loved, and he couldn’t have been happier that it be from the man he loved. It was frightening and exhilarating...]
no subject
And I yours.
no subject
[He smiled, letting Rhy draw him to his feet and wrapped his arms around the other man. He’s more than happy to be kissed firmly, and to return it just as passionately. After all, it was wonderful to feel so grounded in what was probably the best moment he could have ever imagined. That he hadn’t realized how much he wanted before now...]
no subject
I love you.
no subject
And yes, absently noting an excited barking at the excitement that the pup certainly didn’t understand.]
And I love you, Rhy. [he laughs softly, still beaming.] More than I can express with mere words.
no subject
[He smiles, happy to curl the man into his arms.]
no subject
[He shook his head a little, before embracing Rhy tight, tucking his face into the crook of his neck for a moment. Just needing time to gather himself, as silly as it might seem. Llewellyn had found himself just a little lost in the overwhelming feeling of love and affection for the other. Of realizing how wanted he was in return and how lucky he could be to have gotten to know Rhy. A man so sweet, and so very patient with him...]
no subject
[And he was happy to have this with his partner. A future, together.]
We should drink to celebrate.
no subject
I think that’s an excellent idea; we have a lot to celebrate now. A new year, and a new step forward with one another.
[So very different from the last new year he’d seen, Llewellyn couldn’t help but smile at the thought.]
no subject
[He lets Watts down onto the couch and laughs.]
I'm gleeful my dear.
no subject
I confess, I’m not sure I’ve ever felt quite so much joy before...? [He responded with a grin that spoke volumes,] And as long as you’re by my side? I think it will be a good year. A wonderful one, even. There are so many steps to look forward to taking with you, love.
[And considering Llewellyn was always so energetic, he was looking forward to it.]
no subject
We shall have so much to plan, dear.
no subject
I can well imagine, I’ve uh— never been to a wedding. But! I’ve heard a coworker planning his, and it seemed like here’s a lot to it? Then there’s the living arrangements, which... should be easier here?
[Murdoch had lived in a hotel for several years before he and Dr. Ogden had found someone to build them a house. Which... was a whole other thing.]
no subject
Yes, it should be. However I fear the double dome are all taken. I'm not certain. We'll figure it out, though.
no subject
Mm... That’s unfortunate. You’re right though, we’ll figure it out. Even if I just move a little closer for now?
[Because the dorm certainly didn’t offer privacy. Pulling the bottle of wine over to pour a little more out for them, he smiled.]
I’m sure we can sort something out.
[He’s trying a little optimism for once, because it felt appropriate right now. He wanted to be a better than he had been, to believe in the possibility of good things.]
