[When the audio starts, it's with the warm tones of Alex's Canadian, ready for radio reporter's voice, and from the background, it sounds as if she's in the merchant dome, because she is.]

Okay, I realize this is kind of silly. [Yeah, she does know, but she's going with it anyway, so...] But I'm trying to make a point to X'rut who runs the ice cream parlor. What's your favorite ice cream flavor back home? What kind of toppings would you like with it?

What sort of thing do you think never should be made into ice cream? My current one is pure wasabi with pieces of pickled plums that definitely looks like mint chocolate chip. I really don't recommend it. If you've ever eaten the ball of wasabi on a dare when you were having sushi with friends and had a fair amount to drink...

[That is a fairly specific story, Alex. Surely that was never you in college.]

Well, anyway, it's like that only turned up to a thousand. I can't imagine anyone enjoying it and salty plums. So let's give them a good idea of what kind of ice cream we would eat.

Honey lavender might be a nice flavor. I've never tried it, but I do like lavender in tea.

This little place in Pike's Place makes honey and lavender. It is nice!

That sounds heavenly. I always wanted to visit Seattle. Is it as rainy as everyone says?

Oh yeah, but you get used to it. I was born in Vancouver, so I came from it already.

I do miss the rain here, though.

In Atlanta, we get rain in the fall and winter. Snow, even. But the summers are humid and hot, almost suffocatingly so. It'd be nice to visit other places, but I know I'd miss the Georgia weather.

The people, too.

Yeah, I've heard that about there. In the PNW, it just tends to rain and not get hot and muggy.

But the people are probably definitely warmer there. We've got the Seattle freeze here. And hipsters. A hell of a lot of hipsters.

[Alex, shut up you are a hipster too.]

Southern hospitality is just a formality. I'd rather people be up front and cold than lie to my face and fake nice. It takes out the guesswork.

[Not that she has much room to talk about hiding who you really are. She still does it when it's convenient.]

That makes sense. I've never really dealt with people from the South.

It's pleasant enough, I suppose. It just hurts when you learn someone's been talking behind your back at the salon or the supermarket.

Yeah that’s true. And Aaron and Eric are friends.

They're great guys. I'm glad they were taken together.

Me too, I'm really glad. I can't imagine being here without Richard.

[Not that Alex can see it, but the comment brings a sad smile to Carol's face. It may be audible when she speaks.]

It makes me wish Daryl were here.

Maybe he’ll come. Stranger things have definitely happened here!

[Alex sounds hopeful for Carol that’s for sure.]

I hope so. He could use a break from our world.

[She laughs, a bit incredulously.]

I can't even believe I'm saying that.

It's really a little freaky how quickly we get used to saying stuff like that, I think. But it's definitely the sort of thing that comes from like just being really human.

It's a really human emotion, to want your friends safe. But let's get back to this ice cream thing: I could make a home-made batch.

You can make homemade ice cream? Oh! Would you mind showing someone else? He's been asking me all sorts of questions about it, and being as I'm definitely not allowed to cook I didn't really have any to give him.

I'd love to! It's been some time since I've had help in the kitchen. Who's asking to learn?

Seregil. He and his husband Alec are awesome people, but they're from a different planet. Literally. So they haven't experienced some of the things that we have.

A different planet? Like, Mars, or Jupiter?

Not exactly. More magical than that.

More magical? [There are Vikings here, after all. Why not magical beings?] I guess if the dead can come back, I shouldn't be too shocked...Although, this does give me a pretty good idea for opening up a school of sorts. I know there's a school for the younger ones, but do they offer Home Ec classes, or classes to adults?

I think that would probably be a very good idea, honestly. Richard sort of runs the school here. You should talk to him about getting some space there.
