[No video this time. Perhaps that is a message in and of itself from the charismatic member of the council. But his voice carries enough weight as it is. Melancholy and... pensive. Like something is missing.]
This time of the year isn't what it should be. I do not know how to put it, not truly.
In London, my London, we'd be preparing the most fabulous balls. A series of them, using all the ballrooms. One for the nobility and wealthy. One open for the people to see the palace and meet their King and Queen. Another for the sheer joy and celebration for the palace staff. They would be under the stars, and wine would flow and there would be ice sculptures such as only the greatest water mages could make.
[Wistful. Yes, that's what he is. He misses those better days. Misses when his days were simpler, and his responsibilities were light, or non-existent.]
But that is not to be I suppose.
So perhaps I need to think less upon those festivities I shall miss and learn more of what others would have. Tell me, how did your people bring in a new year?

Mm... In my world, we hold small parties for friends and family? The wealthy would also throw ‘balls’ as well, though I doubt they’re nearly as nice as what you described.
Everyone who was invited to one would get dressed up and usually bring their partner. There would always be food— excellent food, dancing for those who could, and party games were always interesting? Oh—! And if I remember correctly, once midnight arrives couples traditionally kiss.
I usually spent the evening at the tavern, watching the excitement if I weren’t invited to a party.

[Once midnight arrives what now?]
Are you suggesting I should make sure to have you at hand when midnight comes?
no subject
I only answer the question you posed, dearest. That said... I would not be opposed to it. Never had anyone to share it with before, and um— it’s supposed to be for luck.

[The question gets a pause, and he can’t help but grin a little more confidently.]
Of course, we’ll have wine! If there is none left at your dome, I know I have a bottle of something nice stored at my office that I could bring with me for the occasion.

[And Llewellyn respected him for it, his love worked so hard for everyone else... He knew much council work had fallen on the man’s shoulders over the last few months.]
But even you deserve an evening off to indulge and relax a little, and I’m delighted that you’ll allow me to provide and celebrate with you. I’ll stop by your dome in the evening, and we’ll both table our responsibilities for the night in favour of wine, snacks, and good company.
(ooc: time skippy in my next tag?)
yes in your next tag

[And if it meant Rhy got to take a little more time off from running himself ragged, Llewellyn would see to it that they took a few more evenings off than they had been as well.]
Until then... I will let us get back to it, and try to not let the excitement of our evening distract me too much, dear.
[And true to his word, he arrived a few days later on Rhy’s doorstep once again. Dressed up once more in one of the vests Inesa had embroidered for him, his curls styled and for once not squashed beneath his hat. He still hadn’t found the damn thing...
Shifting the bottle of wine to his opposite hand, he knocked lightly, eager to see to it that Rhy and he start their evening off. A New Year’s Eve... Something he hadn’t really thought much about before.]
no subject
Ah my darling. Come. I have asked for some nice, rich food to be made to help us through the night.
no subject
He can’t help the appreciative little hum at the idea of good food. The man knew him so well.]
Have you? That sounds excellent, dearest. Rich food and wine do go rather well together. I’m glad you thought of it, I wasn’t sure if I should bring anything with the wine or not.
[He added with a little curious tilt of his head, putting the bottle of wine down before he stole a small kiss in greeting.]
no subject
[PRovided it wasn't white. But he grins and wraps his arms around Watts and kisses him right back, with quite a bit of spirit.]
no subject
The enthusiasm Rhy showed was rather distracting though, in the best kind of way. His hands free of the wine, he returned the embrace, pulling the man close to deepen the kiss. Yes, he couldn’t help but feel this was an excellent start to the evening. Indeed, he might be just as happy to stay like this and forget the wine and food if standing near the doorway all evening weren’t such a silly idea.]
Mm... All of those things do sound excellent, I’ll let you lead the way and we can open the wine to let it breathe a bit. [Llewellyn hummed a little, smile crossing his face in one of those rare moments of playfulness as he looked at his love.] But I admit I’m quite taken with what’s before me already.
no subject
Darling, you can take me anywhere.
no subject
Can I? Hm... I think somewhere comfortable to enjoy this and your company further, then.
[He smiled a little at Rhy, enjoying the ease and pleasant mood. Taking the corkscrew, he set to opening the bottle as he continued.]
Don’t suppose you know a nice place for us to share?
no subject
Other than my bed, beloved? No, I think we'll be content on the couch. After food. Food is always great.
no subject
[There was a slightly belated flush though, as Llewellyn’s mind turned that suggestion over in his head after the fact.
The bottle opened a moment later with a pop; he set it down for a moment to breathe while he moved to help with dishes.]
Mm... Food and your couch sounds good though.
no subject
It's not a ball, but it's far more wonderful to share this with you and only you.
no subject
Llewellyn moved quickly to follow a moment later, not wanting to delay their getting more comfortable.]
I’m still sorry there is no ball for you to enjoy, but I admit... I don’t think I’ve looked forward to a New Years quite as much as this before. There’s something nice about the quiet and the mm... comfort in being in your company.
[There was a feeling of security in it just being the two of them, he could relax more easily. The detective was always so alert in crowds or easily distracted. He could give Rhy his undivided attention and see to it that they still enjoyed themselves.]
no subject
Time with you is absolutely amazing. So sharing it is comforting. Such is the way that love works.
no subject
There was a time where I might not have properly understood the truth of that, but I couldn’t agree more, my dear... I’ve come to appreciate what small moments we can share greatly, and to have an evening with you now is something I can’t help but look forward to after a day.
no subject
Perhaps we should consider more evenings together? To keep us both from working too hate and worrying Pretzel overly much.
no subject
Grinning a little over the top of his glass, he nodded.]
You know, I think you have the right idea. It would be a shame to worry Pretzel with you working too hard.
[Llewellyn knew he worried too. It made the idea of a few more evenings together regularly a good idea, as much as he also supposed he benefited from it considering it meant more time with the man he loved.]
And I know he gets a bit annoyed with me, I don’t carry him around nearly as much as you.
no subject
I spoil the darling and I have no qualms in admitting it. None. I have no shame on this. I love the fluffbutt.
[What? He likes the idea of it.]
no subject
Then a sound that could only be described as a small, amused giggle escaped at Pretzel’s nickname. Fluffbutt, that was cute.]
And I can say with the utmost of certainty that the fluffbutt adores you for it.
[Taking a drink fo his wine, he gave Rhy a rather fond expression. Absently, he can’t help but think on how nice it might be to see the three of them together, comfortable and happy... A bit domestic perhaps, but it’s a nice mental image nonetheless.]
And as difficult as spoiling him makes his training sometimes, I don’t have the heart to discourage either of you. I mm... think it’s quite adorable.
